PETER YOUNG: MY LIFE AS AN AUCTIONEER

 History Club members and guests were in Gringley Church on the 16th January for our first speaker event of 2020.  We were delighted to welcome our club member and Gringley resident, Peter Young. Peter's talk was 'It's My Life', about his life as an auctioneer. 

Peter started in the auction business as a trainee after leaving school.  He worked initially at livestock auctions and during many years of training and study he developed a love of antiques. He is now a well-known local expert, runs local courses and lectures around the world. Peter told us many amusing stories about his life, including pranks played amongst colleagues, finding unexpected treasures in local houses and pubs and meeting well-known personalities.

All present were well entertained by Peter's informative and amusing talk - Many thanks Peter for your efforts.

We would also like to thank the churchwardens for allowing us to use the lovely venue of the church which provided a warm, comfortable venue on a wild and windy night.
